Queensland's Citizen Science Hub

John Elfick, now retired to Victoria, has authorised QSN to re-publish a range of lesson materials commenced while he served with UNESCO. They include primary-level lessons and also experiments for high schools in physics, chemistry, biology and geology to improve science teaching.

Mr Elfick has written to QSN: “I wrote the original versions in UNESCO Paris headquarters and UNESCO Beijing, where I published it at Capital Normal University, (formerly Peking Teachers’ College) in a series of little books (in Chinese) as Overseas Middle School Experiments, Physics etc, including a book on Sexuality Education!

“However, with my retirement, UNESCO closed down its Science Education Section, but gave me access to all former UNESCO science teaching publications. When I returned to the University of Queensland on an adjunct contract, I was given the title ‘School Science Lessons’. I dumped into it all my writings and what I had collected in UNESCO.
